The first quarter of the year is finally over, and that means spring is here and so is my first 2019 Currently Living post. I shared my first one in 2017, and I will continue to share them at the end of every quarter.
Spring is here, and I love the way the sun makes me feel after the winter: alive, powerful and sexy! I always look forward to the onset of spring, because it means summer is around the corner. Summer living is bae, and I am here for it. A lot has transpired since the last time I shared the happenings in my life, and on that note, let’s get right into it.
Crys & Tiana (Projects + Events + Virtual Support)
I’m slowly but surely transitioning my project management company into its own entity as Crys & Tiana. It was born a little over seven years ago and christened CrysTiana Events, and I have since evolved from solely planning events into a project management company. My team and I execute projects and events, and provide virtual support to lifestyle brands + creative entrepreneurs.
Thus far, I have finalized a logo, set up the instagram page, and I'm currently working on the website.
One of my words for 2019 is Stability, and the biggest goal I had for Crys & Tiana for the first quarter of the year (carried over from 2018) was to secure long term monthly retainer clients. I am not interested in running a gig to gig business, and I was quite aware that if I don’t get a 9-5 then something needed to change. Focusing solely on gigs also meant I would always have to be on and forever marketing (not that this isn’t a forever thing). I wanted to be feel secure during slow months (not that security isn’t a fallacy) and not just rely on my savings.
To determine the kind of service(s) to offer on retainer, I prayerfully tested a few things out, listened to my clients, took inventory of my skills, and focused in on what I wanted (one being to be able to work anywhere in the world), I decided on virtual support and assistant services. In addition to managing projects and events, it is right down my alley, and a service I had considered offering about four years ago but never did. However last November, I knew it was the way to go for me and my business, and this time around, without hesitation I stepped into it. Thus far, we are at six (6) brands and growing.
So why VIRTUAL SUPPORT? Since November of last year, I have crafted several responses to this question, but last week Thursday, I had an epiphany.
I truly want to help business owners thrive not just in their businesses, but also in their lives. I have been hustling as a business owner for almost 8 years, and I know how hard and draining it can be. I would love to make life easier for the clients and brands I work with. Crys and Tiana’s ultimate goal whether executing a project or event or virtually supporting our clients is to give them back the TIME and PEACE that running a business sucks out. TIME to focus on other aspect of their businesses and lives, and PEACE knowing that the details of their businesses are in good hands and that they can truly focus on other things without anxiety.
Storyteller (Writing + Editing)
I currently have three active storytelling projects on the books
A writing assignment for a print magazine
Crafting a non-profit’s brand story
Storyline consulting for a documentary
I am currently working on a passion project that blends my two brands into one, and I am so excited to launch it in June. I will share more soon.
With the exception of two potential trips, I’m cutting travel out significantly this year so I can meet some savings goals. Wish me luck as I twiddle my fingers thinking about where I want to go and can’t (This is the story of my life anyways, and I let myself stop thinking of travel as my thing a long time ago).
